GregTech: New Horizons 2.9.0 has just been officially released. After the first open beta in June and some recent RCs, the stable release just landed today on 31 October 2026.

We already covered the new changes in our GTNH 2.9: What’s New & How to Play It on a Server post. Here’s the short version what's in this first stable release.

Highlights

  • Multiblock structure reworks, plus a batch of new machines and multiblocks

  • Late-game additions: Large Hadron Collider & beamcrafting, Nanochip Assembly Complex, Bose-Einstein Condensate multiblocks

  • Crops NH, Mechanical Armor and a big quest book update

  • Angelica 2.x rendering overhaul and a reworked Applied Energistics

  • Runs on Java 8 and Java 17 - 26

If you’d rather watch than read, HamCorp (one of our partners) has put together an awesome 15-minute overview of the update:

For everything else, OgRiCanX’s community changelog breaks down all changes.

Before you update an existing world

This is not a drop-in update. The changelog lists a lot of changes that affect existing worlds, including items that disappear and builds that need rebuilding. You should absolutely read the Before you update page first, and always make a backup before switching versions. Other than the mentioned changes, updating is as easy as selecting the new version in the HypeServ Panel.
